Tiger Leaping Gorge Walk
Day 1 Fly to Lijiang
You will meet your guide at Lijiang airport, transfer to your hotel in the old town of Lijiang, take a walk to explore the old town.
Day 2 Lijiang
Today, start of the Lijiang tour with morning market in the old town, and then take a nice biking tour in the Lijiang valley to explore old villages and meet Naxi family at their courtyard.
On the way, take a short hike to Puji Tibetan monastery on the Jade Dragon mountain side. Visit Joseph Rock’s museum at Yuhu village in the afternoon. The famous botanist Dr. Rock came here to study the plants of the Jade Dragon Mountain and he fell in love with the region, its people and its culture, and decided to live there. He lived in Yuhu village for 27 years. From 1922, he started a huge research work on the local Naxi minority; he took many photos and wrote many papers for the magazine "National Geography".
Day 3 Lijiang-Tiger Leaping Gorge
Depart from Lijiang early in the morning to take a drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge, and take a 4-5 hours’ hike in the gorge. It is one of the world's deepest gorges tucked between Yulong Snow Mountain and the Haba Mountain. With more than 3900 meters (12,480 feet) of vertical relief between the mountain summits and the river, Tiger Leaping Gorge is one of the most spectacular gorges on earth.
Day 4 Tiger Leaping Gorge - Lijiang
Today we will continue the hike in the gorge, it takes 4 hours to reach the end of the gorge. After, we will walk down to the Yangtze River to meet the “tiger” at the place where she jumped over the gorge.
On the way back to Lijiang, we will visit the First Bend of Yangtze River and the Red Army’s Long March museum at Shigu town.
Day 5 Depart from Lijiang
Transfer to the Lijiang airport.
